Teeth and Gum Problems

When it comes to your oral health, it does not revolve around the straightness of your teeth or the brightness of your smile. Many more things should be considered.

If you do not have a cavity and your pearly whites are radiant, this does not mean you are immune to gum disease.

Here are a few teeth and gum problems that many people face.

Toothache

A toothache is pain that takes place around the tooth. It can be due to an irritation in the gum or a serious dental problem requiring a dentist. The first thing to do when you get a toothache is to find a dentist and discuss your problems with them.

Cavities

One in every four people has a cavity that is left untreated. If you have a cavity, you may suffer from symptoms like food getting stuck in the tooth, the tooth feeling rough when you slide your tongue over it, or pain when you eat or drink something too hot or cold.

The cavities are treated with fillings, crowns, or root canals - depending on the severity of the situation.

Gum Problems

If your gums bleed easily or they are tender, you may have gum disease known as gingivitis - this is caused by a build-up of plaque below the gum line. If this is not treated, it may cause your teeth to become loose and make it hard for you to chew or speak.

Wisdom Teeth Problems

90% of people have at least one wisdom tooth that cannot grow properly and creates a hassle. The troubles with wisdom teeth can result in cavities in the neighboring teeth and gum disease.

Tooth Decay

Tooth decay is one of the most common problems people visit a dentist. Tooth decay usually occurs when bacteria form plaque on the surface of the teeth. The bacteria produce acids due to sugars in the food, and the acid damages the teeth's outer layer (enamel).

After the enamel is damaged, it works to deteriorate dentin (the softer layer behind the enamel).

Final Thoughts

It would help if you practiced good oral hygiene habits to keep your gums and teeth safe from these problems. Brush twice a day, floss, use toothpaste with fluoride, get dental cleanings, and quit smoking to ensure that your teeth are in good condition.

Tap "best dentist near me" or "dentist office near me" on your phones and get your regular appointments booked.
