Receiving a Dental Filling

The area will then be thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the dental filling. If the damage is close to the nerves of the tooth, medication will be applied for extra protection. Next, the filling will be placed on the tooth, shaped, and polished, restoring the tooth to its original look and function.  

After the filling has been placed, it’s normal to experience sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures. However, once your tooth acclimates to the new filling, this sensitivity will subside.
