Partial Dentures

Sample of partial denturesDentures are removable appliances that are used to replace missing teeth. Dentures are also used to provide support for the lips and cheeks, so that your facial structure will not change due to missing teeth. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth in the mouth are missing and partial dentures are used when you still have natural teeth remaining.

Removable partial dentures consist of artificial teeth attached to a gum-colored base. There are a few different types of partial dentures including ones with metal framework and clips to hold them in place, and ones with precision attachments. Dr. Joshua Kelly will help you decide which type of partial denture is best for you.

When you first receive your dentures, it’s normal for them to feel a little strange. They will take some getting used to. But the muscles in your cheeks and tongue will eventually learn how to keep the dentures in place when you’re speaking and eating. You’ll also become more comfortable putting them in and removing them.

Even if you have dentures, it’s still important to visit our office for regular dental exams. We can make any necessary adjustments to the dentures, and check the oral tissues for problems or disease.
