ITero®

Severance Dental is committed to providing our patients with the latest dental technology. iTero® Digital Scanners are designed to improve dental impressions, increase patient experience, and reduce time in our dental office. The iTero® offers a more accurate method of taking dental impressions, which can be used to develop more precise dental crowns, bridges, dental implants, clear aligners, and retainers.

Dental Impressions

Dental impressions are molds taken of your teeth to craft customized appliances or dental treatment plans. A traditional impression is taken by placing putty in your mouth. Once set, the putty is removed and sent to create a cast. Even under excellent conditions, taking conventional dental impressions is uncomfortable and unpleasant and not as accurate as we'd like.

The iTero® does not use conventional molding material placed in your mouth. Instead, a dental impression is made digitally.

iTero® Benefits

  • Quick
  • No mess with impression materials
  • No unpleasant taste or smell
  • No more gagging or feeling of choking
  • 7x more accurate
  • No need to retake dental impressions

Digital Scanner Process

During the scanning process, our dentist will use the iTero® Scanner to capture teeth and gum tissue images. Breathing and swallowing may be done normally. Sneezing or fidgeting during the process is acceptable.

Once complete, the iTero® Scanner will offer a 3D digital model of your mouth. With enhanced computer technology, the iTero® can even simulate what your mouth will look like after dental treatment.
